Mediation Fees – How much will it cost?
The best news is that family mediation costs only a fraction of what the charges are of many of the alternative services that are available.
Plus the resolution time is greatly reduced so you are like to resolve your co-parenting issues and have an agreed plan in place much quicker so you and your family can return to a better family life sooner.
There are three stages to a child focused mediation with Co-Parenting for Your Kids.
There is a process to ensure that you get the best results from a child focused mediation. The three different stages have been developed so that you can achieve the best results with the least stress. This also minimises the financial cost and establishes a good foundation for the success of your co-parenting plan in the future.
Stage One: Intake interviews
We recommend that you talk to your ex-partner about your wish to participate in mediation. Either you or your ex-spouse can contact us, or you can contact us together. Each of you will individually meet with Kirsty who is a Federally Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner. At this meeting you will be able to discuss your specific concerns and issues.
If you haven’t made the decision to attend mediation together, we will then invite your ex- partner to participate and they will meet with Kirsty for their own intake interview.
Following these interviews a decision will be made about whether it is appropriate for you to proceed with mediation.
If your lawyer contacts us and provides a brief of your issues, an intake interview may not be required.
Each intake interview costs $165 per person and is payable on the day of interview.
Stage Two: Pre-mediation Session
Once both you and your ex-spouse have met with Kirsty for the intake session and mediation is deemed to be appropriate, an agreement to mediate will be mailed to you. This agreement will outline the terms of the mediation and the costs involved.
Upon our receipt of the mediation agreement from you both, and the required deposits, you will each be issued with login and password details to enable you to access the pre-mediation video via this website.
The pre-mediation session costs $165 per person.
Stage Three: Mediation
Co-Parenting for Your Kids offer a fixed fee mediation service.** We have found that generally, families need 3 hours to mediate and about an hour to write up and sign any agreement that has been reached.
The last part of the session is also spent ‘winding down’ by privately talking with Kirsty about your mediation experience. Mediating can be draining and taking some time at the conclusion of the session to talk with the FDRP, is often beneficial.
Of course, longer and shorter mediations are available and can be negotiated following the intake interviews.
Outcomes that are mutually agreed and signed are called Parenting Plans. If you wish to formailse a Parenting Plan into a Consent Order, Kirsty can provide you with information about how to go about doing this together, once you leave mediation.
4 hour mediations cost $495 per person.
